The School of Computing and Data Science (CDS) at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) participated in the HKU Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions 2025 to attract top AI talent. More than 10,000 prospective students and parents visited CDS booths, attended programme talks, and joined lab tours to discover how the School integrates AI, data science, computing, statistics, fintech, and actuarial science into its future-ready education.

Established to cultivate a vibrant academic community, CDS fosters innovative education and multidisciplinary research by offering cutting-edge programmes that seamlessly blend AI with core disciplinary knowledge.

Building on its existing programmes, CDS this year launched the new Computing and Data Science (Delta+) programme (Programme Code: 6200), designed to develop next-generation innovators with strong foundations in computing, data analysis, and artificial intelligence.

Under the Delta+ programme, students will spend their first 2.5 years at HKU and their final 1.5 years at the HKU-CDS Teaching and Research Site in Shanghai, gaining hands-on exposure to China’s dynamic AI and technology ecosystem. The programme also includes a seven-month co-operative placement with leading industry partners in Shanghai.

Prospective students gained a first-hand look at CDS’s research excellence through guided tours of the Quantum Computing Lab and the JC STEM Lab of Autonomous Intelligent Systems during the Information Day. These sessions allowed attendees to explore the cutting-edge technologies and research areas that define CDS, from quantum computing and autonomous systems to applied AI and data-driven solutions. The tours highlighted the School’s academic depth and innovative capacity, illustrating how it equips students with the skills and curiosity to tackle complex challenges.
