The Delta+ Fellowship Orientation Session was successfully held at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) yesterday, bringing together newly admitted fellows to learn more about the opportunities ahead.
The Delta+ Tech Immersion Fellowship is a prestigious new initiative launched by the HKU School of Computing and Data Science (CDS). Offered on a selective basis, the fellowship is open to top-performing students admitted to the JUPAS 6999 Computing and Data Science programme reading either BEng(CompSc) or BEng(AI&DataSc). It is designed to provide outstanding students with enriched learning experiences, international exposure, and pathways to impactful research and industry opportunities.
Professor Yi Ma, Director of CDS, delivered the opening remarks, encouraging fellows to embrace new challenges and make the most of the fellowship’s resources. His words set a positive tone for the session, highlighting the importance of academic exploration, personal growth, and community building.
Professor Tak-Wah Lam, Deputy Director of CDS, and Professor Zhi-Yi Huang, Division Head (Computer Science Division) of CDS, introduced the fellowship programme and shared the latest updates on the study plan, accommodation arrangements, internship opportunities, and the HKU-CDS Shanghai Teaching and Research Site. Their presentations provided fellows with valuable guidance on academic and professional development, as well as a glimpse into the exciting experiences awaiting them during their time at CDS.
Following the session, participants enjoyed light refreshments and engaged in lively conversations with peers and faculty members, fostering early connections within the Delta+ community.
The orientation marked the beginning of a promising journey for this year’s fellows, who are set to explore innovative research, cross-border learning, and impactful internship opportunities under the Delta+ Fellowship.
