The final episode of “The AI Starter Class II (AI BB班2)” series, which is part of “Crazy and Happy (瘋Show 快活人)” programme on RTHK, was broadcast on June 18.  The episode featured special guests from the School of Computing and Data Science (CDS), Professor Luo Rui Bang (Associate Professor of CDS) and Professor Chow Ka Ho (Assistant Professor of CDS), who discussed the transformative role of AI in healthcare.

Exploring AI’s Impact on Healthcare

In this session, titled “Will AI Become Your Primary Doctor?”, exploring the growing role of AI in modern medicine. The conversation covered a wide range of real-world applications, including AI-powered genetic analysis for predicting disease risks, smartphone-based cardiac monitoring and more.

The episode also discussed AI’s potential in assisting elderly care, supporting individuals with visual impairments, and monitoring mental health through voice and facial analysis. However, the professors emphasized the importance of using AI tools responsibly, cautioning against unverified medical advice from AI chatbots.

“AI BB班2” series has successfully brought AI knowledge to the general public by demonstrating how AI technologies are shaping various aspects of everyday life. CDS is proud to have contributed to this initiative, promoting responsible and informed engagement with AI across the community.
