CDS Professor Giulio Chiribella Speaks at Young Academy of Sciences Summit on AI in Science and Engineering
Professor Giulio Chiribella, Professor at the HKU School of Computing and Data Science (CDS), Member of the Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences, and Director of the QICI Quantum Information and Computation Initiative, delivered opening remarks at the forum.

The sub-conference of the 2nd Young Academy of Sciences Summit was held in Hong Kong yesterday, with a focus on one of today’s most transformative fields: Artificial Intelligence (AI). The summit, themed “AI in Science and Engineering”, brought together outstanding young scientists from around the world to discuss the growing role of AI in foundational science, its applications and challenges.
Professor Giulio Chiribella Highlights AI’s Strategic Importance
Professor Giulio Chiribella, Professor at the HKU School of Computing and Data Science (CDS), Member of the Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences, and Director of the QICI Quantum Information and Computation Initiative, delivered opening remarks at the forum. He highlighted the rapid development of AI technologies and the HKSAR Government’s strategic commitment to AI and data science, as outlined in the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Development Blueprint and the Development Outline for the Hong Kong Park (the Park) of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Co-operation Zone. He emphasized the importance of international exchange and collaboration to foster innovation in this critical field.
The forum also featured talks by leading scholars from institutions including City University of Hong Kong, the University of Melbourne, Renmin University of China and Nanyang Technological University.
