This morning, Dr. Leo Yeung (Guest Lecturer at CDS) appeared on RTHK’s “Crazy and Happy (瘋Show 快活人)” programme, under the theme “The AI Starter Class II (AI BB班2)”. He explored the role of AI in education alongside Mr. Wan Shu Hung (Principal of Aplichau Kaifong Primary School) and Ms. Sin Nga Lam (Principal of Kwun Tong Maryknoll College).

Early AI Education at the Primary Level

The episode focused on two pertinent issues: the integration of AI into the classroom and its potential to support student mental health. Principal Wan highlighted the potential benefits of early exposure to AI for primary students. His school has embedded AI concepts across subjects with the goal of cultivating students’ digital literacy and thoughtful use of technology.

Principal Sin also emphasised the practical value of AI in reducing teacher workload and enhancing student care. From automating lesson plans and assessments to analysing student data, AI tools can help teachers to boost their creativity and productivity.

The episode concluded with a clear message: The purpose of AI is not to replace educators, but to empower them. With the appropriate training and tools, schools can leverage AI to create more human-centred, responsive learning environments where technology supports both teaching and emotional wellbeing.
